Houses axed for new shopping centre
|
Plans have been put forward for a major new retail development
on the outskirts of Preston. The new shopping centre would be
built behind the Capitol Centre at Walton le Dale.
An outline
planning application has been submitted to South Ribble Borough
Council to develop the land between the River Ribble to the
north and Winery Lane to the South.

The new development would be behind the existing centre.

However, if the project is to go ahead it would involve knocking down
57 houses along Victoria Road, Grove Road and Edward Street.
It would also mean the demolition of exisiting industrial and commercial
units.
Oakamoor Estates Limited want to use the site behind the Capitol Centre
to build a DIY shop, a garden centre and possibly a carpet store.
In addition a car park would be created for local residents. South Ribble Borough Council is now inviting members of the public to comment on the plans. |
